Post Flat iron Wash Day

Happy to see that my hair reverted and my shrinkage is back. lol

Happy to see that my hair reverted and my shrinkage is back after my last flat ironing.

Well, it’s wash day today.  Hubby’s out of town for the weekend so, I’ll have more time to myself. I bought a few new products during last weekend’s Buy One, Get One Free sale at Sally’s.  I thought it would be a good time to grab some products that I’d had on my list to try. So, looks like I’ll be recording a video or two. Wish me luck.

Well, wash day went exceptionally well. I suppose it helped that my hair was straight-ish to start. I flat ironed last week and, even though it has already started reverting, I was able to keep it stretched by bunning. This made it easy for me to separate into four sections and finger detangle. I started by detoxing my hair with NJoy’s Platinum Purifying Cowash, to rid my scalp and hair of dirt, oils and any product build up. I applied the Purifying Cowash to my scalp and massaged to make sure that I had good coverage.  Then I applied to each of the four sections, let that sit for 3-5 minutes before rinsing.  As expected, my hair was clean, soft and completely rid of any gunk.  And most importantly, my curl pattern returned. Hallelujah!

Then I decided to try one of my Sally’s haul products. I decided to try Macadamia Oil Deep Repair Masque by Hair Chemist. I thought it was a good time for me to use something with a little protein.  The directions say to allow it to sit for 1-7 minutes, so I did. I thought I’d better use as directed to give it a fair assessment.  When rinsing the product out, I thought that it was going to make my hair feel stiff but, my hair felt a little sleeker and not dry at all.  But, because I always follow protein with more moisture, I decided to use Aussie 3 Minute Miracle as my next step.  I finger detangled as I rinsed the conditioner out of my hair and was pleasantly surprised to find my hair very soft and tangle-free.  I hopped out of the shower to take a look at my hair and it’s texture was restored and it looked clean and bouncy.  My hair was not grabbing onto itself and moved freely.  AWESOME SAUCE!!

For my leave ins, I used ApHogee Curlific Moisture Rich Leave-In (another Sally’s haul), followed by NJoy’s Long & Healthy Pre-poo & Seal to seal in the moisture and then Silk Elements MegaSilk Leave-In Hair Moisturizing Crème as my creamy lock on the LOC method.  My intention was to put in a few twists and get ready for bed.  But I had a full day and I was beat.  I pulled it all up into a high bun and went to bed. It’s now the day after.  My hair has air dried and now it’s time to take a look and see what my results truly are.  Score!  My hair feels fantastic!  My hair feels strong AND moisturized.  My hair does not feel tangled at all. It feels like my hair wants to play nice together.  Since my hair airdried up in a bun, my curls are stretched into strong waves.  I don’t want to mislead. My hair isn’t acting brand new like a type 3 texture but, it does feel good to not have a tangle issue to worry about. I think my ends really needed this wash day.

I don’t know if it was the protein or the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle laying my cuticles down.  I’ll have to try each, individually, later to really know what to give the credit to. Of course, it could also be due to having had my hair stretched flat.  So, I’ve decided to invest in some curlformers to stretch my hair and see if that helps keep tangles at bay.  But for now, I’m just happy to be njoying happy hair.  I looks and feels beautiful.

I did record a video and will have it up within the next few days.  Uh…wish me luck with that!  LOL
