    Hello, fellow Divas!

It's been a minute since I've been on here.

It has been one thing after another for me, from deaths in the family, to a surprise diagnosis, struggling with weight gain and job upheavals I have been sadly neglecting my hair, keeping it under the same old tired wig for the past 2-3 months. I will say that my hair has grown enough to be braided or crocheted (YAY! ) so next weekend I'll hopefully have my hair changed up. I'll post pictures of that.

On the water front (No Pun Intended) I drink about a liter to 1.5 liters a day. Due to the diagnosis I recommitted myself to fitness and healthy living so I'm exercising again though gyms aren't my bag. I have a lotta weight to lose but my whole life to gain and I know my hair will reap the benefits as well.

Hope everything is going well for y'all!

    Take care!

Been in the hospital a couple days with low potassium and high blood pressure but, my heart is fine. Discharged from the hospital yesterday and am feeling 100% now. I'm still ordered to take it easy. But, why couldn't I get the dr to go ahead and officially prescribe me a vacation? Ah well.

I was also dehydrated. I'm only really drinking water but, I just hadn't been drinking enough water lately. This is a reminder to me to up my water intake. Anyone else slipping on drinking water? I'm about to go grab some now.
Oh, dear Lord, I'm glad you're feeling much better than you have been! A vacation is the only thing the Dr seems to NOT wanna prescribe. (Sigh!) Seems like we need to investigate that lol.

I am so sorry to hear about all of your troubles! You are in my prayers. I am recommitting to water and exercise. My midsection is getting slightly out of control and implementing both have so much to do with healthy hair, mind and bodies. I am happy that you are listening to your body and its needs

Re: NJoy's Hair Growth Challenge Thread!!! Come on in!

    Hi ladies!!!!

I hope you all are having an amazing start to the end of spring and beginning of summer! I love this season for so many reasons. Also, this is my first (full) summer in my hair journey (I started last August) so I am excited to see what amazing growth to expect.

I actually have been wearing my hair straight for almost a month. I went and got it professionally done on the 5th of this month and before that, when I did the LC, last month in May, I had a small setback. We can talk about that another time and what we've been doing so far. But for now, I want to focus on the basics. Attached are photos of my lc last month. I am very happy that my hair started growing again. Today I thought it would be fun if we, throughout the next week, post our favorite inspirational photos/hair porn of our length goals. This can be a picture of you in high school, one you found on google or maybe, it's even someone on here! We're at our 6 month period in the hair challenge and sometimes it does good to get back to basics. The first step: find someone who looks similarly to you and has your hair goal. After that please share this and your progress with a photo, if possible.

As the second part of this post, to go along with what mz_robyn posted about water and exercise. Please, with summer in mind, keep up the water intake (or even up it). I was so bad with drinking water before my journey. Actually, I sometimes slip into old habits and forget how important it is. I hadn't been doing so well with it and I will get back to it. I have an Aloe drink bottle I've been keeping it in because it's a perfect 1.5 liters. Also, the exercise element of summer is good. Even when walking in the hot sun, when thinking of the beach, your health when being in the sun is super important.

In the spirit of kicking things off (please don't leave me hanging), I will include everything I wish to see from you guys. It'll be fun! I want to keep my wishes public so I have accountability and I'm putting good things out there a la The Secret. So I am saying outloud (in cyberspace) I want 4 in of growth by late August, I want 3 inches off of my waist by September and I want Whip length (in between waist & hip) by October. My hair stars are of course NJoy which started it all in August, Yannii Torres on you tube and Modern Mrs Huxtable on youtube. I will post photos of my hair goals. It is the season for growth spurts and happiness. The sun is out to give us all healthy doses of vitamins C and D which, are beneficial for hair growth, amongst other things. If we claim our hair goals, even in the short term, we will be successful. For example, I want to be full mbl by the end of this month/next month with only 1-2 in from waist to go.

As for those who are just lurking, just jump in! I know it's scary to say what you only wish in the privacy of your own mind. You might even feel ridiculous admitting it aloud or to anyone, even to those you don't know. I promise you, through seeing our progress, watching youtube and registering under a faux name will keep you as safe and close to your goal as you allow yourself to be. So think of yourself as being at a pool party: the water is cold, everyone feels ugly in their suits and compare themselves with everyone else, and the only ones having fun are those who actually are brave enough to be in their suits and in the cold water.

    Let's dive in, shall we?

Re: NJoy's Hair Growth Challenge Thread!!! Come on in!

Ok, ok! I'm back! It's been a pretty hectic past couple weeks for me. Just strange things going on. Besides being hospitalized, my air went out...twice, my hot water heater burst (in summer???!!), improperly installed air unit had water flooding my laundry room with standing water in the hall, I sliced my finger on a paper cutter, fell down the stairs AND, I had to call the police because there's some weird stalker dude hanging around my house. Um...what in the world?! BUT, even with all the Kookyness going on, I'm still remaining positive. For me, I think whenever life starts acting up, there's a major blessing on the way. So, I stay hopeful and try to be careful, waiting this phase out. I'm not blocking my blessings. No way.

Also, Tuesday was my birthday! I'm thankful to see another year and am excited about what this year (notice I'm not saying any numbers?) will bring! That leads me to the subject of hair.

I'll be 3 years fully natural in September and I'm still learning about my natural hair. I've been doing a lot of protective styling...well, more like being style lazy, so, I haven't been wearing my hair out much. I'd love to have it braided up for the summer. It's so thick and kinky curly. I actually love washdays because it's really the only time that I have it all loose. Well, loose in sections. But, I usually let the back out together so that I can feel the length and weight of it when weighed down by the water and conditioner.

Because of my texture, it's hard for me to tell when I need a trim but, I actually like the idea of giving myself periodic trims to make sure my ends are in tact and because I want to nip single strand knots in the bud. All that to say, I plan to trim before the weekend is over.

I'm at hip now. I said that I'd try for tbl but, I have my hands full with what I have now. If I were relaxed, I'd have no hesitation about tailbone but uh...we'll see.

That said, THIS is the pic that inspire me:

Now, if I can keep my hair from knotting, tangling and dredding when I wear it out, I might be willing to attempt this look now. Ok, maybe it doesn't do all that but, when you've had nightmare detangling sessions, you think it might and don't want to risk it. A good leave in and keeping it well moisturized is key. Time to whip something wonderful up. #StallTactics

Re: NJoy's Hair Growth Challenge Thread!!! Come on in!

So, it's a late night wash night for me. I used Elasta QP Creme Conditioning Shampoo to wash. I don't even remember when i bought this but, this was my first time trying it. I love it! It's just like the bottle says; it's very moisturizing and detangles as it cleanses. There are a few shampoos that allow me to finger detangle with the help of the lather but, this stuff was exceptional.

I followed that up with a deep conditioning treatment. My hair likes coconut milk so, I sectioned my hair into 4 sections and applied coconut milk to each section and then topped that with my deep conditioning treatment. Again, trying to use up some of my Sally's purchases that I grab when Sally's have good sales, I used bamboo deep strengthening mask (it was time for a little protein) and added avocado and olive oils and coconut milk. I have that in my hair now. I'm tempted to leave it in as an overnight treatment, since it's pretty late. But, I'm going to wash it out and do a quick cowash with Aussie Moist, if needed.

While wet, I'll moisturize and seal. I think I'll wait on the trim for now.

Well, I'm off to do that now. But I've gott say, I'm pretty tired. We'll see.

HAHA! I clicked edit and didn't realize like an idiot. Here's what my post was:

I hope it went well. I've purchased some new products that I hope will help me grow and make waist length by my hair journeys anniversary in August.

    I bought:

Vatika naturals coconut oil which is enriched w amla, henna and lemon. I thought neem oil was in there, guess not. I also bought the roux porosity control for my damage. I've been wearing my hair straight this month. Well I haven't washed it since my salon trip and it's due. I need to restock my NJoy products. So I'm thinking about the pomade this time. I'm wondering if it causes reversion. The oil doesn't. I leave my hair in the cap for at least 30 mins while I'm in the shower with a bandana over it. I've noticed some growth or reversion, not sure...probably growth. Either way, it has started before I used the oil so I know it doesn't revert the hair...at least not mine. I've been inverting for the past week as well, ending in a few days. I've been trying meditation for hair growth...there are some kind of beats to listen to that science has proven...idk. It doesn't bother me so I do it. I'm not expecting anything but it is something to try. I like meditation anyway. I am about to go back curly for the next month or so, then I'm going on another trip so I will probably wear a minimal heat style because its so much easier for me. I have to get some hair vitamins and my husband bought whey protein so I will be having that and dme in the morning with my vitamins. Right now I'm just taking MSM, I'm done w the bottle of biotin and I am also taking multivitamins and vitamin B w Calcium. I am about to order some NJoy vitamins. I'm debating between the hair growth pack with the oil and vitamins and the pomade with one bottle of vitamins. Hmmm...so much to ponder. I wanted to try the pomade I think...I'm not sure.

My hair has been shedding a lot and I've had a little breakage. Its hard to stay moisturized with a heat style...I've seen little dandruff flakes here and there and have used the NJoy oil and a little castor oil. I felt dry after a week of wearing it straight...I wonder what people do that pay like $40-$70 for a heat style? I paid I think $65...I don't remember. I think of it like braids because I mean, you can keep braids in for so long, why not your hair straight? I know you used head and about the bonds but even people with perms wear braids as protective styles sometimes. Either way, you can wear it in buns to protect your ends etc. I get less tangles with straight hair. I just really need to learn how to moisturize and seal and straighten it with minimal damage.

This week, I started back to the NJoy oil for when I'm inverting because I only have a small amount left. Today, I did the Njoy oil on my scalp as usual with a massage and then, I used the Vatika oil with the Shea Moisture JBCO milk protectant/styling cream (not sure of the name but rly tall skinny bottle). My hair felt so super good! I've missed my straight hair. It's easier for me, I just have to learn how to do it and take care of it. I'm so happy I did't let that stylist chop my locks. "It'll never grow"...okay. I'm just delicate and careful with it and it has been. Also lately, I've been meditating to the photo of myself w longer WL hair so that's mind over matter stuff too and it works. Anyway, I hope summer is good!

How's everyone's summer routine going? What are some new things you are trying and some things you've been thinking about trying but haven't yet or want to know more about?
