How frequently are you getting your trims? And are you doing them yourself?

I trim my hair about every 5 months by lightly pressing my hair and standing in front of the mirror. It takes forever but comes out decent and gets the job done. My plan is to have a professional press my hair and give me a blunt cut when I pass BSL, until then I am going to do it myself.

I haven't done any real trims. I use the Split Ender to keep my ends in check. I bought it last year and used it once a month for 3 months in a row. I don't think I needed to but, having a new toy and the idea of fresh ends was addictive. I had to put it away. I used it again at the end of the year and again recently when I flat ironed for my birthday. I like it because the cut is not noticeable but my ends get trimmed. It's more preventative, I think.

I get a trim twice a year -- the beginning of the year and midyear -- whether I need it or not.

I trim when it looks like I need a trim. I just asked about trimming by moon cycles.

@njoy what is a split ender?

Here's a link to the site for more details.

I bought this last year and love it! It cuts about 1/8 to 1/4 inch off the ends of the hair to prevent or get rid of split ends. My ends stayed delicious and I credit my Splitender with helping with that. Check out the site.
