Ok. Looks like we're waiting on the site designer to be able to get back online after the hurricane so, let's just go for what we know for now. Soooooooo....

Let's get this party started right! :clap2: We did a great job in October. But now it's NOVEMBER, baby! We're almost done with this year. But there's still time!

Time to set new goals, a new plan and make it happen. :yahoo:

Let me just add, there are 5 full months left in this year. At .5" a month, you can have another 2.5" added to your length. Where would that put you? Or, how about 1" a month? How'd you like to find yourself 5 inches longer at the end of the year? If this sounds good, then you'll need to put forth the effort and plan to get there. Let's do this! August can bring us thicker, longer, healthier hair in just one month!

Or, how about slimming down this month. How'd you like to be 10 or 15 pounds lighter? Or lose a dress size or two? In just one month! And what about your skin, your nails, your career goals, reading more books, writing a few chapters in your new book? What else can you do in a whole month. A LOT!!! So, let's do it!

Name it and claim it! We're getting it done in November so, chime in to let us know who's in. Who's not afraid of a little accountability? It could make the difference between "I made it!" and "I could've done better".

We can do this! So let's gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!! :yay::yay::yay:

Thanks for kicking things off MsDarling. I couldn't keep my eyes open long enough to post my list yesterday. I'm pretty tired right now too, actually. My 6 yr old has been sick with fever for the past 4 days so, I haven't really been getting much sleep. I hope this fever breaks today. Ah well.

My goals for November

86-96 oz of water daily
daily vitamins (consistently)
at least 1 nutriblast daily
exercise at least 5 days/wk (when released by dr)
At least 1 inch hair growth
At least .5 inch reduction in waist (to 28.5")
3 YT videos (help me, Lord)
Consistent skincare routine
consistent face exercises

I'm on it!

I'm already looking for my something new to do, saw a groupon for this: http://hipfitkickboxing.com/ which could be fun or this www.russianturkishbaths.com/enter.html which could be relaxing.

I don't know how I feel about the bath, I don't want to be naked if there might be men around. I really want to go to the bath, because I went to a sauna and steamroom when I was guest at my friend's gym and it was the best thing ever.

Or maybe a brazilian wax? When I wax I do a hard wax myself at home, so I don't feel it'd be so special. The peels, I still have one at home used only twice. I see a lash extension thing, but I am super-satisfied with my natural length, mine have a great profile all I do is apply mascara and I get that false look. There is a French language class, but I already have a cd I ordered recently which is giving me some conversational skills and I prefer that method of learning.

I think I diy'd myself out of wanting/needing a lot of stuff. I think I'll just have to wait and the right thing will come to me.

That Hip Fit Kickboxing sounds like fun. I took a few kickboxing classes at my local gym and loved it.

Ugh! I'm out of water. I have to up my water delivery from 5 tanks to 8. My whole family is on water only and my hubby has upped his intake too. We're not expecting our next delivery until Thursday. In the meantime, hubby bought cases of bottled water. Those went fast. And then there was none. Either he goes out and picks up a few gallons or I do. He's acting all tired so, I'm not even thinking about asking him. And I'm all tired and don't want to go. What to do? What to do? I tried drinking water from the faucet but, yuck! I can't do it. Even with the filter on. *sigh* :drama: He's just gonna have to go. :drama:

Today I'm still in twists. I LOVE my twists. :reddancer: They're starting to hang longer and seem bouncier. I felt like I should cowash but didn't feel like hopping in the shower. I wanted a nice relaxing bath today and spent time visualizing my goal length. I'm really motivated after seeing this graphic of my hair idol, Hair Crush (Chime)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v377/tonia1c/haircrush.png

The top two pics are SO droolworthy. That lower left pic is a bit intimidating but still, I love that hair. I'm trying to convince myself that my thickness will be just as delicious. I'm on a mission!

But still, I didn't feel like cowashing. So, I poured an acv rinse over my head and then applied GPB to my twisted hair. I covered with a plastic cap and then a bonnet. I'll probably rinse that out and m&s as usual. At least I'll feel like I did something.

I'll also apply my growth mix to my scalp. I have to be mbl by the end of this year. Well, I'd like to be full mbl, that is. I think it's possible...if I go hard.

I almost let the GPB stay in too long. I was tired and was gonna lay down and go to sleep but remembered that I should've rinsed it out hours ago. When I took the plastic cap off, the ends of some of my twists were trying to grab onto each other. This gave me a flashback of the major tangle disasters that I had as a relaxed head. So, I quickly rinsed and gently detangled the ends, applied a moisturizing DC and let that stay on for about 30 minutes under a plastic cap and then M&S my twists. But I also coated my ends with Crisco. I know this was a lifesaver in my relaxed days. It would keep my moist braids from tangling together. Whew! Narrow escape! Note to self. Don't allow protein to sit in my hair too long, let alone overnight. Sheesh.

On another note, I'm trying Silk Elements Megasilk Leave in. My hair seems to love it so far. It just curled right up as soon as I put in on. I've been looking for a good leave in, now that I'm natural. I'd been using Giovanni Direct but it's just so so. I want something much more moisturizing and so far, this seems to be doing a good job. We'll see.

So, I finally went out into the cold yesterday.

Yesterday I was looking for some olive oil, in TJMaxx, I'm on a budget and didn't want to use up the cooking oil at home. I also picked up a new Bobble at TJMaxx, this is my 3rd Bobble. Haa, I had two before, the 1st one I used the heck out of, the 2nd barely got any love, and yes it's wrong, but I threw them out instead of buying the new filter. So I saw the bobble for $3 less than usual and I have purchased it in the past (at Old Navy), I'm on my second fill for the day, I have the 18.5 oz, it's bpa free, and the filter lasts for 300 fills. I'm drinking at least 3 fills per day, that is around half my weight in ounces.

What else? Exciting news, at least for me, I bought a applicator bottle, for what? Sulfur oil. Yes! I tried it this week as trial to see if I would like it and I do. So yesterday I decided I would purchase real supplies. I ordered more powder because I had borrowed some from my sister. I couldn't get to Wholefoods or Trader Joe's for EOs so I also bought this--> thing (http://www.sallybeauty.com/peppermint-hair-oil/SBS-649350,default,pd.html?cm_vc=SEARCH) in Sally's too for adding in my mix. My mix is now definitely not as smelly to my nose as the one my sister made which has brahmi oil in it.

I've done scalp massages before, but when I do it with the sulfur oil, my head gets super warm/hot, not tingly, just really warm. Is that normal?

I want that one inch of hair this month.

What else?

Going to be applying to more jobs, when I can get to a printer tomorrow, I just need to be able to print and proofread my stuff before emailing it. I think I've gotten really good at writing my cover letters, which is funny because they used to seem so difficult (literally, just back in August), but lately I've been writing them quite well.

Warm is good. Tingly is good. Whataver it takes to stimulate the scalp. Heat draws bloodflow so, your warm feeling is definitely good. :Great: Likewise, massaging the scalp also stimulates bloodflow so, even if you didn't feel anything but massaged, you'd still get the benefit of the increased bloodflow to the follicles, which are bathing in the sulfur mix. I think the peppermint oil that I use gives me tingles more than anything else.

I'm going to throw my hat in the November Go Hard Challenge.

My goals are:

Flat iron my hair only once this month
Exercise 4-5 times a week - with at least one weight training session
Up my water intake to 80oz or more
Be more consistent with my sulfur mix - I fell off the last week in October only applied once. (I also need to take pics for October - I hope to post tonight or tomorrow)
Be zen :meditate: since my in-laws have already started their normal holiday drama
Continue juicing daily

P.S. . . I love Chime's hair... Her and Zhara (http://www.nappturaldiva.com/2012/06/hair-length-pt2.html) 486 are two of my faves.

...AND, my 12 yr old just made 30 delicious cupcakes. YyyyyyyI'm in trouble.

As for my hair, I retwisted using Silk Element MegaSilk Leave In and am loving it. Well, so far, so good. My hair feels moisturized, nice and springy and looks good. I think I'll get a good twistout out of this tomorrow. We'll see.

As for my face, for some reason my face is breaking out on my cheeks. Not sure what's up with that but, I have to do something about it. It may be because I thought it was safe to reintroduce biotin but forgot to stop taking it while my water intake is down. I'm expecting water delivery tomorrow. It'll be great to get back to refilling my water bottle. Right now, I'm pouring glasses of water from store-bought jugs. It's just not the same. Ah well.

I'm looking for a good liquid multivitamin. Anyone have any suggestions? It just seems like the vitamins would be better absorbed in liquid form. And, I've been on a mission to cut back on taking supplements (capsules and pills).

Let's see...what else? I haven't been getting much sleep lately. My 6 yr old has been running a fever for a week. I took him to the doctor on day 3 and was basically told to ride it out. So now, it has developed into pneumonia. High fever, no appetite, lots of vomiting and lots of whining. All that means very little sleep for mom. Although, now that we have him on antibiotics, he seems to be doing a lot better. I'm just holding my breath to see if he can make it through the night without that fever coming back again.

Anywho. I voted today. I hope everyone got out and rocked the vote. :great:

As far as hair goes, might have to ditch sulfur already. My sister got it in her eyes while washing her hair and they were really red, eww.

Can't deal with potential eye irritation.

I'm going to wash my hair this week, over the sink to ensure that I don't have any running in my eye. Then probably quit with it while I'm ahead.

I didn't think about this, but that is a huge drawback.

In other news, I had the opportunity to do something new on Tuesday, but had to skip it due to school work, bummer. I hope something else comes along.

I'm still going strong with my dairy-free, and my skin is loving it, as is my monthly visitor.

I also got rid of some nail polishes, will continue to whittle down my collection before the month ends.

Sorry that happened to her but, if it gets in your eye, just rinse it well with water. That's what the labeling says on the sulfur. I've never had that happen to me but, I guess it would be as with anything else, like shampoo or conditioners. It's not the same sulfur that's in sulfuric acid so, there's no need for panic. I think red, irritated eyes would be the worse of it, as with shampoos etc. Just offering some reassurance.

To keep anything out of my eyes, I find it easier to rinse in the shower, holding my head backwards. Leaning forward over the sink increases your chances of water running towards your face.

Speaking of nail polish, I picked up a silver glittery polish that looks like crystals (not the typical multicolored silver glitter polish). I thought I'd use it across the tips of my nails. I have it on the tip of my ring finger nail and I LOVE it! I'm also going to try just the accent tip and white tips across the rest as well as all of them tipped. (hope that makes sense)

I also picked up some eyeshadows. I plan to up my makeup game. I love lips but also think you can be most creative and expressive with eye makeup.

Ms.Darling, I may try to join you in dropping dairy for a bit. I especially need to back away from cheese. But, I'm gonna have to plan that out for a future date. :giggling:

My twistout turned out cute yesterday. I got lots of compliments. My hair looked great but felt dry. So, I did an overnight DC last night. I'm just about to rinse the conditioner out and follow with a nettle/roobios tea rinse. I'm also planning to see if I can revive any of my last season wigs for use this year. There are two more that I plan to try. Tammy (Outre) and Easy Riya (Janet Collection). I've seen these two on youtube and they look like must-haves. Hopefully, I'll have 4 wigs and/or phonytails that I can use to protective style through the cold months.

Yeah, I freaked out over it more than she did, but it's still iffy, I got a sort of rash on my neck as does she, had it for about a week now, I'm wondering if it's an allergy to the sulfur? I've taken msm for my skin for a couple months a few years ago and I didn't have any rash.

I still haven't washed my hair, today is week two of my hair. I'm just so busy with school and then the last thing I want to do in my free time is wash my hair, and I end up doing other things.

Speaking of eyeshadows I got a new quad yesterday on sale, it's by Black Radiance, I will take a picture and post, I feel like it's well pigmented. I really bought it for the purple.

I'm still fighting the urge to buy polish! My nails seem to be growing fast, and I only cut the ones that chip and that leaves me with two long nails. I'm careless with my hand movements and sometimes bang my fingertips on surfaces and they bend or break.

Oh geez cheese is the most difficult dairy product to avoid, it's on everything, Dorritos, pasta, salads, everything! But so far so good, I'm used to going long stretches without dairy, for my skin's sake.

Yeah, if you have a rash, then you probably do have a sensitivity to the sulfur. That's the whole point of a patch test, to see if you have any type of reaction to it.

I'm looking forward to seeing your pic. I love purples for eyeshadows. I'd really love to do a vibrant purple lipstick. I'd LOVE it!

I've been having random itching all over for a little while now. I've had it before and then it went away. It's just hitting me that the past couple blood tests that I've had have shown that my iron levels are low. I was taking iron pills and stopped when I started using my Nutribullet to try to get my vitamins from foods. I started adding spinach and kale to my blasts to replace my iron pills. Well, I haven't been drinking my nutriblasts lately and haven't thought to go back to iron supplements. So, I'm itching like crazy. So, for me, symptoms of low iron is random itching and fatigue. I'm headed in to have my levels checked tomorrow but, I already know. That said, I'm adding having at least 1 nutriblast daily to my challenge. I was doing so well with it helping me to lose weight, give my skin a glow and give me more energy. I don't even know how I fell off and didn't even realize it.

I did post the pictures in my blog here if you want to see them.

Speaking of purple lipstick I have "Berry Haute" by Revlon and low it. I started playing with lipsticks during the spring. It's lavender. I really want VaVa Violet by Revlon, it's a deep purple, but it's always sold out at Target, and I won't buy elsewhere because they have it less than $6.

I did a test patch before using, and thought it was okay, now that I think of it my wrist did turn somewhat red, but I thought it was because I had bumped it on something. Sometimes, my wrists flare up and that's what I thought it was.

Maybe I can use it only once or twice a week, I haven't used my mix since Monday because my neck was rashy, but I had used for a week straight before that. Maybe it was a bad idea?

Anyway I just washed my hair tonight without doing sections, and I think my hair is at the length where it's okay not to do sections. I had no irritation washing the sulfur mix out of my hair, I did it in the shower like you suggested, Njoy.

I just want my one inch of hair this month.

I was watching videos on purple lips and "Berry Haute" kept coming up. It looks wonderful! I'll run out and grab one tomorrow.

Do what you feel is right for you, as it relates to the sulfur. Don't feel like I'm talking you into anything. I've used it daily and had no issues. I take that back. In the very beginning, behind my ear felt plastic-y smooth. I think it was because the sulfur was reacting with my earrings. It will definitely interact with silver, tarnishing it. But, some hydrocortisone cream took care of that. But again, if you have any hesitation, follow your gut.

So for me, it's gonna be a spa marathon around here. My hubby is out of town for the rest of the week. I'm gonna have so many concoctions, mixes and masks going on. :giggling:

So far, I've been pre-poo'g my hair and did a lemon/tumeric face mask. I'd reintroduced biotin into my regimen because I upped my water intake to at least 86 oz. Well, I've been slacking on my water and only getting in 32 oz, if that. So, my face has suffered the predictable biotin breakout. I'm leaving it out of my regi from now on and trying to clear the marks that have been left on my face. Also, I'm back on my water game. I feel like I'm starting over and am adding EmergenC to my water for the vitamins AND flavor.

I njoy'd the facial treatment and will wash and DC my hair with steam...after I put the kiddies to sleep tonight. It's been a minute since I've used my steamer but, I'm looking forward to it.

Hmph. I may even get in a little exercise right quick. Yes! Just talked my son into going to bed a little early. Maybe I'll save the exercising until tomorrow and get in a nice, warm bath. Woohoo!

I'm not sulfuring this week either haven't used the mix since Nov 5, but I will resume next week because I'm washing my hair every 2 weeks and may as well use the oil during the 2nd week. I like the mix for scalp massage, my head got really warm using it. My neck is basically back to normal now.

Now that I make turmeric masks a way that my skin likes, I;m addicted to the instant results I get. Last night I did honey, lemon juice, yogurt, plus turmeric and today any blemishes that seemed be cropping up have nearly gone away. I tried a sample of a face product I thought my face liked it until I used it a 2nd time, it was a no go, I strayed from my simple regi and that's what happened.

I'm going strong, on a bad day I only drink two bottles filled which is 37oz, and a a good day I drink a 3rd one, works for me because I drink tea almost every night and I don't even count that in my water intake.

Do you notice any extra hair benefits using the steamer?

I use my steamer for my moisturizing deep conditioning anad it really does hydrate my hair. I also have used it to speed up my henna processing by half the time. And of course, for any protein deep conditioning, I use dry heat.

I love using tumeric to clear up my face. It does seem to help noticeably right away. I also add lemon peel powder and another indian powder called Skin Life to my tumeric mask (with a little milk and avj). I love it!

Oh, and guess what I picked up today. Berry Haute. I couldn't wait to try it. So when I got home, I just threw it on. It was not as serious as I expected. I put some liner on with it and it looked better but still.... just not enough pop. Then I messed around and tried to smile. And just like it did the girl in the video, it make my teeth look dinghy. Nooooooooo! That may be the end of my dabbling in purples. I quickly wiped my mouth and threw on a red lipstick. Ahhh... my white teeth were back. I think I'll have to limit my purples to wines and I'm disappointed by that. I may try one more time at the MAC counter but, if my teeth are going to look dinghy, I can't do it. Booooo.... Ah well.

On another note, I've decided to start leaving conditioner in my hair instead of trying to find a separate leave in. And then I'll just seal that in with oils. I guess it'll be sort of a Tightly Curly/Curly Girl blend. We'll see how that works out. And I'll probably go back to wet bunning too to keep my ends in check.

This month is flying by. We're halfway through. I could've sworn it was just Halloween last week. :giggling:

Yeah, I notice certain colors have that effect on teeth, but apparently the best color to make your teeth seem whiter are blue based, so blue based red is the best red. I don't wear lipstick on a regular basis (my poor lips can't take it), so I like the lavender for novelty, I have another nice color by Revlon called "Black Berry" and then I have "stoplight red" by wet n' wild I like these reds a lot, haven't worn the Wet n' Wild one out yet, it's more of a classic red..very bright.

I did something sort of similar on Sunday, I was low on my bottle of conditioner and was to lazy to go to my room to get the new one, so I just used a lot of olive oil on each section and combed through and twisted, then hopped in the shower and rinsed. The oil is heavy and of course my hair is oily to the touch, but with this cold weather I'm fine with that. I like how my hair feels since I did that, will probably do it again because I realized I save actual conditioner that way and the one I have is normally $10, and I love it too much to use up when I can't afford to buy another right away.

On another note, I think I need a new Denman, I do believe they lose their optimal ability after a while, had this one for about 2 years now, and it's just not combing like it used to. My regular comb is good, but the teeth are wide, and I like to use both the comb and Denman brush. I have another comb of the same brand, but the teeth are closer, I've never used it, will break it out, next wash day, because that's a whole $10 sitting unused.

I use my Magic 5 Jumbo rake, then a smaller bone detangler and then my Denman. Sometimes I skipped the bone detangler but overall, My detangling session went extremely well. This is a piece of cake compared to detangling transitioning hair. (Thank the Lord :yay:)

I have a busy day planned today so, even tho I applied my growth mix last night, I don't think I'm going to cowash today. Who knows, I may oil rinse later tonight, depending on how I'm feeling. But, other than that, I think I'll be fine to leave my hair as is.

I will be doing another tumeric mask tonight.

I really need to cut out all this eating out that I've been doing lately. And, no more goodies hanging around the house. My weight has been going in the wrong direction. My waist has gone down so, where's the weight? It usually goes to my buns but, I think my thighs look like the recipient. I don't want that so, I'm going to have to get back on my fitness program. I haven't because I'm still in physical therapy for injuries to my lower back, shoulder and neck since the car accident. But hey. I should be trying to do something. At least, get back to yoga. I don't want to regain all that I've lost.

My nails are still growing like weeds. And, the nailbed looks SO clear and healthy. (I don't know if you can see but, I'll post a pic) I don't wear anything on them so, if my hair snags on anything or chips because I'm rough with my hands, I cut the nail. I've done that a few times and they come right back. I hope that's a good sign for my hair too.

I don't know if I posted this but, yesterday, I put my hair in chunky twists, pulled them up into a bun and then wrapped my bun in a faux braid that I made with Marley hair. Here's what that looked like.

I'm just getting back online since Sandy blew through. I'm too late to join this month but, I'll tag along if you divas don't mind.

I'm wearing my hair in mini twists and trying to keep them in for the rest of the month. I plan to wash and condition in twists and redo them as needed for upkeep. Other than that, I don't really have anything else planned. I'm still trying to get things at home back together.

Wow. I knew you were in the path of Sandy and was wondering how you were doing. So glad you're ok. :hug2:

Let me know if I can help you with anything, girl. I'm always here for ya.

I know it's Thanksgiving (Happy Thanksgiving!), but here I am checking in.

My skin has taken turn for less than perfect, I'm wondering if my acne is related to stress, because when I'm really stresses I notice I pick my skin a lot and have basically more spot to pick.

I slowed down on writing my ebook because of schoolwork, but am happy I've got quite a bit of text in, good news is I have graphics for it as well as a layout, so that's good progress for me.:clap2:

I've lagged on applying to jobs, but will pick back up into the weekend.

I wanted to buy a groupon for a class, but I missed the cutoff time. Need to find something new to do or try.

My hair is fine, I haven't used the sulfur because I seem allergic, I will try a different concoction. Why am I surprised? I had M&M peanuts last Saturday and I ended up some red hive-like rash on my neck. I tend to notice reactions on my neck, there are so many things which seem to give me rashes on my face (cheesenips) or neck. Whyyyy me? So my neck looks gross and I thought it was acne, but it's not, this happened to me last spring, from what I'm not sure, it was from something from the school vending machine, probably was M&M peanuts then. I didn't have M&Ms until last weekend, and I like them (I ate at least 3 bags a day last fall, seriously), I believe their high protein caused me to gain the nearly two inches I got between Oct 22, 2011 and Jan 6, 2012 and didn't realize it because I was simply addicted to eating them. I just don't like half the stuff in the machine, and they are so crunchy.

I'm looking for some more paid writing gigs, I feel like I can get a least one in the next week. :wof:

No dairy for me, but I really might give myself a pass for today, might enjoy a little butter on my bread or something. I haven't been eating cheese, milk yogurt, milk, butter, creams, etc, but I know there are small amount of dairy in things I've had like some baked things, I'm just avoiding full on dairy products for now.

I have not bought any nail polish and every one I see in the store looks like they could be on my hands:crazy:, I'm going to post my current nails on the nail thread.

How is everyone else doing?

I'll have to post my update after a good night's sleep. I ate so much, I can barely move right now. I fell asleep for about 5 hours and am convinced I would've slept until morning had my son not come into my room wanting me to put him to bed with our regular story and prayer routine. I couldn't do it tonight. Dad had to. But, it still woke me up enough to drag my tired carcass out front to be with hubby. I'm not going to last much longer.....zzzzzzzzzz

What a difference a day makes! :reddancer:

I guess the first update should be that I ate entirely too much food! Not just yesterday but over the past few days. All sorts of goodies have been sneaking up in here and I've been welcoming them with open mouth. I don't even dare get on the scale. And, with all the leftovers, it looks like I'm gonna have an uphill battle for a minute. And thre's only 7 days of this month. Yikes! I'm gonna cut back...starting tonight. And really work my waist and abs. Hopefully the damage won't be so bad.

I've changed my hair regimen and it seems to be working pretty well. I tried V05 Silky Cashmere/Shea Butter and think that it was too much protein for my hair. I took my hair loose during my bath and had some broken pieces. I took the opportunity to do a protein-moisture balance test and my strands were poppin like stippers. I did an acv rinse and a deep moisture treatment. It's all feeling much better now. I think I'll continue with the new regi and get back to using the V05 Tea Therapy conditioner as my rinsing conditioner. I'm feeling pretty good about the way my natural hair is curling up. Who woulda thunk I'd have such pretty curlies?

I'm still using a tumeric mask off and on to control hormonal breakouts. So far, so good.

I haven't been using my Nutriblast at all lately. I pretty much forgot that I'm supposed to be going for one blast a day. Ah well. Better late than never.
